Top 6 Must-have Puzzle Apps for your iPad

Anyone who has to spend an interminable amount of time sitting on public transport will agree that an iPad is a fantastic invention. Once upon a time, commuters used to carry crosswords or custom puzzles around with them to alleviate the boredom of train or bus travel. Today an iPad is the entertainment tablet of choice because it can carry a huge array of e-Books and puzzle apps. So what are the best puzzle apps for iPads?

1. Hitman Go

Hitman on a games console looks very different to the iPad puzzle game, but don’t let the appearance of it put you off. Hitman Go is a strategy game. As a hitman, you have to try and avoid detection as you progress through the different levels, so a high degree of spy craft will be required. There are different solutions for each level, so the game has something for everyone and is ultimately very entertaining.

2. Threes!

Fans of numerical puzzles will love this game for it involves moving small numbered tiles around the screen to add up and match numbers. This game won a prestigious “game of the year” award in 2014 and is justifiably popular. It won’t take long to figure out how to play Threes! The more you play, the more challenging the game is, which is how a puzzle game should be. It’s also free.

3. The Room 2

The Room 2 is a cross between a horror movie and a Sudoku puzzle. It is cunningly designed to make you think as you navigate your way around a 3D world full of intricate puzzles. The graphics are amazing and there is a real sense of fear pervading the game as you try and escape each level.

4. Year Walk

If you have an interest in 19th century Sweden – and even if you don’t – this game will prove to be fascinating. The premise is both interesting and innovative. Players are invited to immerse themselves in 19th century Sweden and solve various puzzles along their Year Walk. The game isn’t easy and you have to be able to think critically, but it’s a lot of fun. You also get to learn more about Swedish folklore.

5. Quell Memento

The premise of Quell Memento is simple: you are in an abandoned old house, unlocking the memories of the house’s last occupant. This is done by sliding pearls around and collecting orbs. If it sounds way too simple, don’t worry, it really isn’t. The game graphics are pretty cool and the soundtrack is awesome. You can even compete with friends if you play via Game Centre.

6. Monument Valley

Monument Valley is a difficult game, but the game is beautifully constructed and there are lots of levels to navigate. The aim of the game is to guide a princess character through lots of multi-level monuments, finding hidden paths along the way. The game is fun, addictive, and guaranteed to keep you enthralled for hours.

This is just a small selection of the hundreds of puzzle games on offer for iPad, so visit the App store and download a few to try. Or, if you prefer traditional puzzles, check out those on offer at www.stavepuzzles.com.

How to Stop Automatic Device Driver Updates in Windows 10

While most of us have been very excited with Windows 10, not everyone has had a smooth ride so far. The latest OS from Microsoft has changed completely the way windows updates are downloaded and installed on PCs. In my case particularly, I’ve had to deal with automatic installations of incompatible drivers on my elitebook; specifically, the validity sensor (fingerprint-reader) driver. While I could install the right-working drivers, windows 10 automatically updated them with incompatible latest drivers rendering my fingerprint device unusable. This has been such a piss-off considering how I’d love to upgrade my devices to Microsoft’s latest software. However, not all is lost as I’ve found a work around from simple steps shown below;

Here is how to disable automatic driver installations in Windows 10;

  • First, Navigate to file explorer and right-click on “This PC”, then select properties

  • From the left panel, click on “Advanced System settings”

  • Make sure you select the “hardware” tab and click on “Device Installation Settings” as shown below

  • Select “No, let me choose what to do”, then “Never install driver software from Windows update” and click on save. That’s it.
