KBC’s Signet Channels now on StarTimes

If you are a StarTimes customer, you must have noticed additional channels on your current bouquet with either a Signet or KBC tag instead of the usual STV – looks like StarTimes has relented to its customer’s demands to have local channels without any subscription. Local free to air channels such as Kiss TV required StarTimes subscribers to pay for the second last inexpensive (Classic) bouquet which goes for about Kshs.1000 monthly subscriptions, other local channels can be viewed from the least expensive (Basic) bouquet billed at Kshs.500 monthly payments. Questions have been raised as to why local free to air channels except KBC on the StarTimes platform required a subscription to watch while they were completely free on the analog platform.

Signet is a digital transmission platform owned by KBC, it’s a state sponsored initiative in migrating from the traditional analog TV transmission to a more reliable, efficient and crisp digital platform. It’s the same platform that’s utilized by Gotv – a digital pay TV owned by KBC and Multichoice, StarTimes signals are transmitted by the Pan-African company which’s Chinese owned.

Additional Channels include;

  • KBC:   Mwatu Fm, Ingo Fm, Kitwek Fm, Mayienga Fm, English Servive, Coro Fm, Venus Fm, Minto Fm, Nosim Fm, Eastern service.
  • Signet: Horizon, Dream TV, Aviation, AATV, Revival, GE TV, Delivera, BAZAAR, Fountain, Youth TV, Kingdom, Adventis, Citizen, Kiss, K24, EATV, Heritage, NTV, KTN KBC 1.

  1. what is the latest on the additional channels, mostly on latest channels and those that were appearing signet .

  2. i am very dissapointed with star times. first it is the lack of information. one day they have signet, the next day it is withdrawn….no one bothers to inform us until we call to complain. same with the local channels, what’s with the inconsistency? they have failed too early. i havent even renewed my subscription for this month, unless they do something about the local channels this week… am done with them!!!!
