Safaricom seems to be experiencing major service interuption on it’s core services of Calls, sms and Mpesa. Customers trying to make calls are being met with abrupt ‘call ended’ notification and a beeping sound. On their facebook page, the service provider has acknowledged indicating that their core services had been affected by a technical issue. It’s har to tell exactly how widespread the issue is, but at least we can confirm services in Nairobi are affected.
Speculations are running wild on social media, with some Safaricom subscribers attributing to the current party nominations but its hard to tell at the moment, and this could just be a coincidence. Sometimes back, the government was accused of wanting to spy on Kenyans by installing a spy gadget on local providers that could intercept any calls made or texts send. Below is Safaricom’s comments, at least for now.
Safaricom’s facebook message “Dear Customer, we have had a technical issue which affected a number of core services in our network. Services are coming back up progressively. We apologise for any inconvenience encountered”
Are you affected? and from which part of Kenya?
All services are down!!!!
we hope this won’t happen on 08/08/2017!
Breakdowns and technical hitches are normal experiences in many systems. What’s is important is urgent response n rectification. Na that hitch should not cause any harm or insecurity esp in the money system so called M-PESA …Mimi ata niko na deni ya okoa jahazi na by then nilikua nishatumiwa kaujumbe eti ndugu mteja heheee….Anyway rekebisheni mtambo ndio ata ninyi mtengeneze faida
