StarTimes TV Kenya Bouquet Channels

by admin on June 20, 2012

StarTimes TVMonths after the introduction of Kenya’s first DVB-T2 digital television frequency by Signet which’s owned by KBC, StarTimes has joined the segment in a move that’s expected to propel Kenya’s ambitions of fully migrating to digital transmission. Despite the potential presented by the new platform, most pay TV providers in Kenya have failed to cope-up with Dstv which enjoys a significant portion of Kenya’s total market. The likes of Smart TV and G-TV were forced to exit the market due to competition. StarTimes TV is owned by China’s Pan African Network which’s currently operating in most countries including Nigeria and is currently available in Nairobi and its environments on D.T.T platform. The success of StarTimes will be attributed to their Bouquets in terms of Pricing and channels; Dstv is comparatively expensive but has a lot of sporting channels which Kenyans love.

I say its better than Gotv since you continue viewing local free to air channels upon expiration of your monthly subscription.

I have already phoned them twice and told them that the subtitles in the Kungfu series are far from accurate, besides they sometimes don’t even appear, and at times its pretty obvious that what has been translated into English is far from what was spoken!

Yes it can, the DVB Transmission is from Limuru and thus anyone within Nairobi, Mombasa and its environs can receive the DVB-T2 signal

sadly, just found out only KCB works without subscription all others become unavailable.

I just hope their signal is reliable because I am planning to buy the startimes decoder soon, I also just realized that not all free to air channels are included once your subscription has expired, anyone with experience on startimes usage?

there is nothing good with startimes. The only free to air channel is KBC.Am regretting to buy your decorder. Is this the meaning of digital migration?Am from Kisumu.Nothing to enjoy.Without decorder I could watch almost 6 local channels but now nothing. Please guyz work on this mess.

hakuna mtu nguyas urongo mtupu hapa kisumu ni kbc pekee yake.

Mimi naitwa Mely and you can take this to the bank: Star times is a fraud!! The only thing you watch once your subscription expires is KBC! Even after subscribing, you will never watch football, nothing! Not even the Tusker KPL!! Hawa watu wana utoto sana, i now believe that cheap is expensive!

Reply

Anonymous October 29, 2012 at 6:58 pm

this is fraud! I bought this decoder hopping to improve my t.v signal which is poor, only to find out that not even local channels can work. the channels only work during the day. at Night, all the channels are scrambled! there is this sales lady who sold me the decoder at NAIVAS NAIROBI, AND GOSH …..I believed her only to find out that she’s just one of those TERRIBLE SALES LIERS.WITH ALL THIS LIES AND, BELIEVE ME, STARTIMES IS GOING NOWHERE. THEY WILL DDEFRAUD NON SUSPECTING KENYANS, BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY, THEY WILL GO DOWN THE DRAIN LIKE KENYA BUS, AKAMBA, GTV AND KENYA TIMES.

star times isn’t as bad as you would like to put it guys, we are receiving better signals but the main issue is, we should be able to watch all the Kenyan free channels even if our subscription is over. here the star times people will have to man up

I bought the decoder recently in Nakumatt Nakuru. Picture quality is fantastic. However lost Family and Sayare. I thought could access Kiss Tv but can’t. Is this just a forum for complaining or we expect action on issues raised above?

They have useless customer care telephonelines, after being kept on hold for long, the lady only argues with you to call up a technician to sort you out. Come on, CALL A technician at 2200hrs? Just a bunch of crap. Waste of time and money. When the deal is too good think twice.

Reply

I am regretting buying the damn box 3 weeks ago. We enjoyed clear pictures for 2 weeks and its no more. Their technical guy checked for the problem and said its Faulty and they need to change it, am still waiting.

Guyz I understand your frustrations with DTV broadcasters. But its important you know that majority of these channels are picked via satellite for free using (Free to Air) Satellite decoders commonly called DVB-S2(S: stands for Satellite) as opposed to DVB-T2(T: stands for Terestial which requires someone to receive channels for you via satellites remotely then purchase frequencies and licences from CCK then resend you the same channels only that u need an Aerial to receive them. But you can receive this channels using correct satellite equipment here locally

Bought the StarTimes at Rongai BeesNess Park in Rongai, 1st Floor WestWing (Masai Stage) and the guys there are the best. They even fixed an aerial for me at no cost and now I receive over 125 channels including 40 Signet Channels free of charge. Dem boss comes over to my house whenever I want him and leaves me fully satisfied on matters DVB. I will consider him for other services. StarTimes is the best.
