Epson to sponsor the inaugural Kenya Photography Awards (KPA)

Epson will be sponsoring the first edition of Kenya Photography Awards which seeks to honour those who have contributed significantly to the growth and development of photography in Kenya. The event is aimed at appreciating and acknowledging professionals as well as upcoming photographers in Kenya. Winners of the awards will be announced on 26 November 2013 at the KICC in a ceremony that is expected to attract photographers, creative professionals and photo enthusiasts alike. The Kenya Photography Awards is a brainchild of Photographers Association of Kenya together with PAWA 254, a social enterprise through which innovative professionals from diverse artistic fields exploit their creative genius to foster social change.

Epson Kenya will provide the overall winner with a Stylus Photo 1410, a top-quality high-performance A3+ printer for the digital photography enthusiast. In addition, the Stylus photo R2000 and L800 printers will be donated for the event to aid in printing of photos by all attending photographers.

Regional Sales Manager for East Africa – Mr. Mukesh Bector said, “Epson was delighted to be associated with this milestone in Kenya’s photography industry,”   he also added that the Kenya photography awards will present a platform for photographers to showcase their exemplary work to the world, Epson was dedicated in ensuring that this work is presented in high quality by the near dedicated Epson photo printers.”

With Claria Ultra High Definition Photographic ink, the Stylus Photo 1410 assures of bright, vivid images which are resistant to fading, have smooth tonal gradation and fine detail. These make it to be one of the most valuable assets for the digital photographer. Other features of this printer include direct printing from a camera, CD/DVD printing, 6 individual ink cartridges and ink droplets as small as 1.5 picolitres due to the MicroPiezo print head.

On its part, the Stylus photo R2000’s eight-colour ink set takes advantage of Epson’s high-gloss encapsulated pigments including a gloss optimizer. The printer automatically selects Photo or Matte black ink for the best results on glossy, matte or fine art media.

Amrik Singh Sales manager SAI Office Supplies Ltd, distributors of Epson products in East Africa, commented that this was indeed a proud moment and a wonderful chance to show the quality work that Epson products are capable of doing. Formally launched in September this year, the event will be an annual competition for Kenya’s photographers in various fields like news, daily life, nature, sports among others. Photographers below the age of 23 will not be left behind as there is a special category for most promising young photographer of the year.
