Samsung Galaxy 18160 Ace 2 Review

Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 18160 comes as a follow up to the segments favorite, Galaxy Ace 5830; whether or not it’ll perform as good is a game of wait and see.  The phone however poses some interesting improvements on its predecessor which proved to be a rare Android monster that could be afforded by just any serious Android smart phone fan.  Despite having almost everything you’ll find on a mid-range smart phone, the original Galaxy Ace suffered from an over pixilated display due to a minimal 320×480 pixels screen resolution on a 3.5inch panel.  The new Samsung Galaxy 18160 Ace 2 comes with a more ramped up 480×800 pixels screen resolution that renders sharp text and icons compared to its sibling.  Although Android v2.3 Gingerbread shipped on Galaxy 18160 Ace 2 may not get our condemnation, we expected a more recent Ice Cream Sandwich; however, at least v2.3 is still better than v2.2 shipped on the original Ace.

Unlike its predecessor which borrowed heavily from the iPhone 4 by featuring square corners, the latest Ace 2, has more rounded corners which translates into an oval appearance.  By retaining the same 5.0Megapixels for the primary snapper, we’re a little disappointed as 8.0Megapixel camera looked more appropriate; for this reason, expect no improvements on camera quality if you’ve had the earlier Ace; however, there’s a front facing VGA camera essentially for video calling and we’re delighted Samsung retained a LED flash which’s nested under the main camera, so not all is lost. The build quality is generally stable as the device felt sturdy enough in our hands and will escape unscratched from minor accidents. We’re a bit skeptical about Samsung Galaxy 18160 Ace 2’s 10.5mm thickness and its 122g weight, as other devices in its range are slimmer, lighter and wallet friendly.
Like any other Android device, we don’t expect a miracle on Galaxy 18160 Ace 2’s battery life; however gauging from the earlier Ace’s impressive performance, a 1500mAh size battery is anticipated to put this handset on top against other favorites in its genre. A major disappointment on this device is an 800MHz processor resting underneath, most devices in this category comes with a standard 1GHz clocked processor. Besides the800MHz processor resting under the hood is an enormous 4GB worth of internal storage and 768MB RAM which’s not much but sufficient for day to day apps. You can also expand the internal storage using a MicroSD card of up to 32GB.
