Samsung I9070 Galaxy S Advance on our Benchmarks

From the look of things, Samsung’s latest droid device I9070 Galaxy S Advance is slated to be the most affordable handset among dual-core devices. The phone was introduced abruptly leaving no room for those wild guesses on its hardware and features; it houses some serious specs that will keep it afloat in a highly competitive segment. To keep the price tag relevant, Samsung I9070 Galaxy S Advance had to accommodate some painful compromises such as a low RAM (768MB to be precise) which is not at par with most devices we’ve seen in this category. It’s also shipped with Android v2.3 Gingerbread onboard instead of the most recent version Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS); there wouldn’t be any proper explanation for this, especially in monetary terms other than Samsung’s own mischievousness. Besides the aforementioned compromises and some design flaws, the rest of Samsung I9070 Galaxy S Advance exceeds the average benchmarks in its respective genre.

Some interesting touches on Samsung I9070 Galaxy S Advance that will amaze those staunch smart phone geeks out there include a front facing 1.3Megapixel camera and a 4inch Super AMOLED display, you’ll not miss-out on Skype powered video calls as well as HD quality videos. Although it’s not the slimmest phone we’ve seen, Samsung I9070 Galaxy S Advance is noticeably thin and will fit in any pocket. If you’re a smart phone geek with tiny pockets or a cheapskate searching for an affordable dual-core handset, this phone fits the equation. The front panel is dominated by a 4inch display screen with exceptions to a 1.3Megapixel camera, proximity and accelerometer sensors at the top left while menu, back and home buttons sits below the screen. There’s not much at the phone’s back aside from the 5.0Megapixel primary camera and Led flash, you’ll be able to capture vivid images even in darker places and record 720p video clips.

Unlike the Galaxy Ace Plus S7500which has 512MB RAM, Samsung I9070 Galaxy S Advance comes with 768MB RAM though we expected more to complement the dual-core clock speed. Although 480x800p isn’t the best screen resolution we’ve come across, it’s still enough to render crisp text and vivid images compared to its peers, a little scrolling is however needed when browsing web pages. Considering Samsung I9070 Galaxy S Advance’s chipset, it supports adobe flash so you can watch videos directly from your browser as opposed through Youtube. The phone doesn’t support 4G radio though 3G is fair enough considering everything.
