Nokia Lumia users to make international and domestic calls using Viber App

Users of Nokia Lumia Smartphones will now be able to make international and domestic calls to mobile phones and landlines after the popular Viber app became available on their devices. The development comes after viber version 4.1 update was released on Nokia Lumia devices running Windows phone 8 operating system, effectively adding a range of new features to widen the chatting potential for the users. Viber is already one of the most-used messaging apps on the Windows Phone platform.

“This is a timely upgrade that permits Nokia Lumia users to call mobile and landline numbers as long as you’re connected to a 3G or Wi-Fi network, you’ll be able to place calls,” said Nokia East Africa Operative Products and Devices Manager King’ori Gitahi.

However, whereas Viber to Viber calls will utilize your data, users will need up-front credit to make Viber Out calls to mobile phones and landlines but at a cheaper rate. Users can be able to check the costs of calling within Viber itself by going to Settings > Viber Out > Get Rates.

In addition to cheaper calling, Viber has also added the ability to send video messages, send multiple photos at the same time and now supports hands-free Bluetooth connectivity.

Viber app enables users of Nokia’s Lumia range devices to share instant messages, photos, videos, stickers, doodles and location to their nearest and dearest around the world for free or communicate via the innovative Push-To-Talk feature. The app is already available for Nokia Lumia and will be preloaded on Nokia X devices and is coming soon for Nokia Asha.
