MPESA Menu is now available by dialing *334# on your Safaricom mobile phone

Safaricom customers can now access MPESA menu on their devices by dialing *334#, this comes after the telco enabled the functionality following limitations faced by subscribers without a smartphone to utilize some services only available via the MySafaricom app. The service will therefore allow subscribers without a smartphone to access services that were previously only available via the app on their feature devices.

The move to consolidate all MPESA services via a USSD function was informed by lack of enough merit to achieve the same purpose via SIM Toolkit menu. It’s therefore easier for Kabambe users and even those with a smartphone to utilize USSD option without needing an internet connection for that matter. The new menu makes it easier for customers to send money to the correct recipient by displaying the receiver’s name and only advancing once the customer confirms the transaction.

Speaking on the unveiling, Safaricom’s CEO Peter Ndegwa said the telco had embarked on a mission to simplify services offered by providing a clear and efficient way to access them. Ndegwa further said MPESA on *334# was part of the telco’s strategy in refining how customers interacted with the service.

How to access MPESA Menu via USSD Code;

Subscribers can simply dial *334# on their phones upon which they will be presented with a choice of different M-PESA services including “Send Money”, “Loans and Savings” or “Lipa Na M-PESA”. As with other USSD menus, customers will key in the number selecting the service such as “5” for Lipa Na M-PESA.

Additionally, using MPESA via *334# will consolidate all services that were previously offered through different USSDs, saving customers from the need to remember a number of USSD codes for doing various functions on their devices.

MPESA users can access various features such as selecting Pay Bill and Till number options for Banks, Government and County Government Services, and Transport services including the SGR and long-distance buses. Once a customer selects any of the options, they will be presented with a list of services which can then be paid normally via Lipa Na M-PESA. MPESA Global is also available via the short code.
