Safaricom removes data bundle and voice expiration dates, no fixed amount to spent

If the latest development is anything to go by, Safaricom customers can now purchase data bundles with no expiration dates. This comes after several parties raised concerns about how the telecom operator fleeces its subscribers by attaching an expiration date on their mobile data plans. If for example you purchased their weekly data bundles, unless you exhaust the data within a period of seven days, they’ll subsequently become unusable after the expiration of their validity period.

Former Kiambu county governor Mr. Kabogo had questioned Safaricom’s motive in denying its subscribers a chance to exhaust their data bundles once they expire. Recently, we’ve also seen counties such as Ghana forbid telecom operators from putting expiration dates on the services they paid for. In this regard, telecommunication firms cannot give customers ultimatum on when they should use the bundles.

Safaricom’s data services offering has elicited mixed reactions in the past with some subscribers complaining on the telecom’s operations, this could’ve been the reason the firm has decided to remove expiration caps on it’s data and voice offering.
