Global Student Entrepreneur Awards to be Hosted in Nairobi

The Kenyan Chapter of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) is set to host the qualifying competition of the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Nairobi Street Kitchen. Consequently, the prestigious awards program, organized by EO, recognizes students who own or operate businesses while attending college or university.

Key Highlights:

  1. Competition Details: The winner of the Nairobi competition will advance to the regional quarter-finals in Oman and stand a chance to compete at the Global Finals in Singapore in April 2024. The Global Finals offer a total prize package of $100,000.
  2. Sponsors: This year’s sponsors for GSEA in Kenya include Jubilee Asset Management, Moringa School, and Craydel.
  3. Training and Mentorship: EO Kenya will provide finalists with training, mentorship, and support from its members to help them develop their entrepreneurial careers.
  4. Scoring Rubric: GSEA focuses on identifying students who demonstrate the tenacious spirit of an entrepreneur. The scoring rubric emphasizes qualities such as resilience, adaptability, and passion over financial success.
  5. Past Success: Kenyan student entrepreneurs have shown excellent performance in the competition, with several reaching the Global Finals. Notable examples include Stanley Somba, a student from Strathmore University and founder of Ngeli Foods, who competed in the Global Finals held in South Africa last year.
