Safaricom’s ‘Sambaza Furaha’ Christmas Campaign: Sharing Joy and Spreading Love

In the spirit of festive cheer and community bonding, Safaricom has unwrapped its month-long Christmas campaign, ‘Sambaza Furaha,’ aimed at sharing the blessings of the season and enhancing customer engagement. The campaign promises delightful surprises, gamified experiences, and a range of rewards for Safaricom users across Kenya.

Safaricom’s CEO, Peter Ndegwa, emphasized that ‘Sambaza Furaha’ is more than just a promotional endeavor; it’s a call for the community to come together, spread Christmas cheer, and make a positive impact on the lives of those around us. The initiative acknowledges the economic challenges faced by many during the season and strives to provide support, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the festive season.

The campaign encompasses various elements, including the distribution of care packages by the Safaricom Foundation to hospitals, food hampers, and visits to children’s homes. The Foundation, celebrating its 20th anniversary, aims to transform lives by engaging with communities and making a difference in the lives of those in need.

As part of the interactive approach, Safaricom introduces gamified experiences, allowing users to spin a wheel on the Safaricom website, with the chance to win prizes such as data, airtime, coupons, and more upon redeeming their Bonga Points. This not only deepens customer engagement but also aligns with the joyous theme of sharing during the festive season.

The campaign extends its rewards with a 1:1 ratio on Bonga Points redemption for voice and data needs. Customers can redeem points for personalized and rewarding experiences, including 60 bonga points for 60 minutes of talk time or 250 bonga points for 250MB of data.

For customers seeking home internet solutions, Safaricom offers discounted prices on 4G Wi-Fi routers, making connectivity more accessible during the festive season.

Key features of the campaign include the “Niokolee Na Bonga” feature, allowing customers to use their Bonga Points to pay for utility bills and essential goods and services. This feature not only adds value to the points but also promotes the spirit of giving back.

In the spirit of giving, customers can also donate their Bonga Points to organizations such as the World Food Programme, UNHCR, and World Vision, further emphasizing the campaign’s focus on making a positive impact.

M-PESA customers can enjoy discounts on local flights, SGR train tickets, and bus gift vouchers, creating more opportunities for customers to celebrate without financial strain. The MySafaricom App offers additional discounts on selected brands, food, travel, and accommodation, enhancing the overall customer experience.

The campaign launch featured a lunch drive at Hon. John Njoroge Secondary School in Kasarani, Nairobi, where Safaricom engaged with the community through shared meals and delightful surprises, reflecting the true spirit of ‘Sambaza Furaha.’

As Safaricom Santa travels across towns, bringing Christmas gifts and spreading joy, users are encouraged to explore the exciting deals and offers on calls, food, travel, and more by redeeming their Bonga Points. ‘Sambaza Furaha’ is not just a campaign; it’s a festive celebration that aims to unite communities, share love, and create lasting memories during the holiday season.
