Equity bank customers now able to link their accounts to PayPal on mobile app and Equity online

Equity Bank has made it easier for its customers in Kenya to access their PayPal funds by allowing them to link their PayPal accounts to their Equity Bank accounts and initiate withdrawals through the Equity Mobile App or Equity Online platform. This is expected to be convenient for customers who are freelance writers, have families abroad, work in the creative industry, or are involved in cross-border trade, as they can easily access their funds without having to go through the previous process that involved tedious processes.

Owing to ease of access PayPal account balances, the upgraded service is expected to support the growth of local small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Kenya, which are expected to benefit from the streamlined access to funds provided by this service. This move is in line with Equity Bank’s strategy of digitization and innovation, which aims to centralize customer experience and make it easier for customers to access services at their convenience.

The bank’s customers can now seamlessly link their PayPal account and withdraw their balances alongside other numerous bank services on Equity Online and Mobile App. The service is also available for customers who wish to withdraw funds send via western Union. As of now, Equity Bank currently offers the only 24 hours bank withdrawal service in the country enabling PayPal account holders to withdraw funds paid from their registered PayPal accounts and deposited to their Equity Bank accounts in either KES or USD.

  • Ensure that you have the latest version of Equity Mobile App, it can be downloaded from the App Store or Play Store for iOS and Android users respectively.
  • Launch the mobile app and proceed to login
  • Scroll down until you see “Add Your PayPal Account”, just below the Equity and PayPal logos
  • Follow the prompts until you finish.

Once linked, the service allows PayPal account holders to withdraw funds paid from their registered PayPal accounts directly to their Equity Bank accounts in either Kenyan shillings (KES) or US dollars (USD). This is likely to be beneficial for customers who receive payments through PayPal and need to access their funds quickly and conveniently.
