LG Xnote Z330 Ultrabook, MacBook Air’s better Option?

With an aim to introduce affordable slim laptops, Intel defined several features for computer manufacturers to abide by, which include a thin, light and elegant design that’s not more than 20mm thick to qualify for ‘ultrabook’ tag name. LG’s latest Z330 laptop falling within its Xnote family has satisfactorily met Intel’s requirements, hence the ultrabook tag name. There is no second guessing about LG Xnote Z330 ultrabook’s biggest challenger ‘Apple MacBook Air’ which has dominated the market segment for a long time. Apple MacBook Air has experienced a considerable measure of success among other laptops falling within its genre, some of which succumbed to competition such as Dell Adamo. However, the emergence of ultrabooks such as LG Xnote Z330 has destabilized its grip within the market segment as consumers enjoy a vast variety of alternative laptops.

LG Xnote Z330 has a thin light design as expected of an ultrabook, and provides consumers with two processor options to choose from; Intel Core i5 2467M 1.6GHz or Core i7 2637M 1.7GHz. According to the electronics manufacturer, LG Xnote Z330 ultrabook is described to be both thinner and lighter than rival MacBook Air with an estimated ultra-fast 9.9 seconds Windows 7 boot time courtesy of “super speed tech” optimization technology. Xnote Z330 measures 14.7mm thick and weighs about 2.7 pounds which is within ultrabook’s requirements. Although ultrabook’s are supposed to be cheaper than professional laptops, LG Xnote Z330’s $1,500 introductory offer price sounds pretty intimidating and might just be the only stumbling block in combating the MacBook Air’s dominance. Apple has clearly demonstrated authority as a major player in production of ultra-thin and portable laptops that consumers are dying for; however, with a better pricing structure, other industry players who have joined the ‘ultrabook’ bandwagon could as well reap from the market segment.
Despite its intimidating introductory price tag, the LG Xnote Z330 houses some serious specifications compared to other devices within its genre, it’s shipped with optional 128GB, 256GB or 300GB solid state drive (SSD); 300GB SSD hard drive significantly raises the industry’s benchmarks. It has a 13.3inch (1366×768 pixels) HD LED display screen and comes with 4GB onboard memory which ensures super-fast speed. Other features include 802.11b/g/n WiFi connectivity, Bluetooth and Intel’s WIDI (wireless display technology).
